Printable Queen of Hearts raffle board with 54 numbered spaces and a jackpot box, with envelope number cards and a weekly drawing log

What’s in the kit

  • Queen of Hearts board, 11 by 17 inches. 54 numbered spaces, a jackpot box you type into each week, and a line for your drawing day, price and license number.
  • The same board in letter size, for the bulletin board, the bar or the church hall entrance.
  • Envelope number cards, 1 to 54. Big, readable numbers to tape on the envelopes that hide each card.
  • Weekly drawing log. 36 weeks: tickets sold, weekly prize, jackpot, ticket drawn, card selected, card revealed and witness initials.
  • Jackpot tracker spreadsheet. Set your split once. Type each week’s ticket count and it works out the weekly prize, what goes into the jackpot, what your organization keeps and the running jackpot.

How a Queen of Hearts raffle works

  1. Shuffle a deck and seal each card in a numbered envelope. 52 cards plus the jokers makes 54. Nobody knows which number hides the Queen of Hearts.
  2. Sell tickets each week. Buyers write their name on the ticket and select a card number from the board.
  3. Draw one ticket. Open the envelope for the card that ticket selected.
  4. Not the Queen? The ticket holder wins the weekly prize, that envelope comes off the board, and the jackpot grows for next week.
  5. The Queen of Hearts? That ticket holder wins the jackpot, and the game is over.

Before you start

  • Check your state’s rules. Queen of Hearts is regulated differently everywhere, and it isn’t allowed in every state. Many states set the split or require a specific license.
  • Write the rules down. What happens if the winner isn’t there, whether the jackpot is capped, and what happens if the game runs past 54 weeks.
  • Keep the envelopes locked up between drawings, and have two people present whenever they’re handled.

Queen of Hearts FAQ

How does a Queen of Hearts raffle work?

A deck of cards is sealed in 54 numbered envelopes. Each week, buyers select a number with their ticket. One ticket is drawn and its card is revealed. If it’s the Queen of Hearts, that person wins the jackpot. If not, they win a smaller weekly prize and the jackpot grows.

How is the Queen of Hearts jackpot split?

It depends on your state and your rules. A common setup sends part of each week’s sales to the weekly winner, part to the growing jackpot and the rest to the organization. The jackpot tracker lets you set your own split.

Can more than one person select the same card?

Yes, in most games. Only the drawn ticket’s selection is revealed, so many people can pick the same number.

What size should a Queen of Hearts board be?

An 11 by 17 inch poster is easy to read from across a room, and most office printers or print shops handle it. The kit also includes a letter-size version.
