How to pick a raffle ticket price

  1. Start with the goal, not the ticket. What do you need to clear after prizes and costs?
  2. Be honest about your reach. Count the people your sellers can actually ask, not the whole town.
  3. Match the price to the prize. A $50 basket fits a $5 or $10 ticket. A trip or a car can carry $50 to $100 with a capped number of tickets.
  4. Add bundles. “3 for $25” raises the average sale without scaring off the one-ticket buyer.
  5. Check the share. If more than about a quarter of everyone you know has to buy, rethink the price, the prize or how far you can reach.

Raffle ticket pricing FAQ

How much should raffle tickets cost?

Most school, church and community raffles charge $5 to $20 a ticket, with bundles. Big prizes like vehicles or trips can support $50 to $100 tickets when the number sold is capped.

How many raffle tickets do I need to sell?

Add your goal and your costs, then divide by the ticket price. A $5,000 goal plus $600 in costs at $10 a ticket takes 560 tickets.

Is a cheaper ticket better?

Not usually. A lower price rarely brings in enough extra buyers to make up the difference. Keep the price sensible and use bundles to raise the average sale.

What if we can’t reach enough people?

Raise the price, add a bigger prize, or sell online so out-of-town family, alumni and coworkers can buy too. Reach is usually the real limit, not price.

Need to reach more people than your sellers can?

Chance2Win gives your raffle its own website with bundles built in, so anyone with the link can buy. Paper and online tickets go into the same drawing.
